Implementation Research On Childhood-onset Noncommunicable Diseases (NCD)
September 2025 - Present UNICEF Project

This implementation research aims to generate evidence to strengthen the prevention, early diagnosis, and management of childhood-onset noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) within Bangladesh’s primary health care system. The study focuses on conditions such as childhood diabetes, asthma, epilepsy, rheumatic heart disease, and congenital heart disease. It employs a mixed-methods design combining quantitative facility assessments, patient and provider surveys, and qualitative stakeholder interviews to identify service delivery gaps, referral challenges, and opportunities for system-level improvement. I contributed to the development of study tools, coordination of data collection, and drafting of the implementation research questions and framework. The findings are expected to inform national strategies for integrating childhood NCD services into routine health systems and advancing universal health coverage.

Just Transition for Antimicrobial Resistance (JT4AMR)
December 2024 - Present British Academy Project

The JT4AMR project explores antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through a social justice and sustainability lens, moving beyond biomedical perspectives. It aims to develop an equitable and sustainable framework for AMR mitigation by integrating social dialogue across human, animal, and environmental sectors.

I contributed to research coordination, stakeholder engagement, and planning of deliberative workshops involving multi-sectoral participants.

Key outcomes:

  • Framed AMR as a social, economic, and environmental issue requiring fair and inclusive solutions.
  • Identified equity and livelihood challenges linked to antibiotic use in humans and livestock.
  • Supported the design of a multi-sectoral dialogue framework to guide sustainable AMR mitigation strategies in Bangladesh.

Assessment of Public and Private Blood Transfusion Services under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS)
August 2024 - June 2025 WHO Project

This national assessment, conducted in collaboration with the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) and WHO Bangladesh, evaluated the readiness, quality, and regulation of blood transfusion services across 201 public and private facilities in 17 districts. Using a mixed-methods approach including facility audits, donor and patient exit interviews, and stakeholder consultations the study identified major gaps in infrastructure, workforce, service quality, supply chain, and regulation.

I contributed to data quality control, field supervision, data validation, and analysis, ensuring the reliability of quantitative and qualitative findings.

Key outcomes:

  • Mapped nationwide BTS readiness and service delivery gaps.
  • Highlighted shortages in trained personnel, quality assurance systems, and haemovigilance mechanisms.
  • Provided evidence-based short- and long-term recommendations for improving infrastructure, regulation, digital reporting, and voluntary blood donation systems.

The findings informed DGHS and WHO’s strategic roadmap toward a safe, efficient, and sustainable national blood transfusion system aligned with Universal Health Coverage (UHC) 2030 goals.

Implementation of Health System Assessment for System-Level Quality Improvement in Bangladesh
June 2024 - June 2025 World Bank Project

This mixed-methods study assessed the readiness, quality, and performance of health facilities providing Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNH) and Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) services in Brahmanbaria (Chattogram Division) and Sunamganj (Sylhet Division). The findings informed the design of Bangladesh’s upcoming 5th Health Sector Programme and the Program-for-Results (PforR) project to strengthen primary health care (PHC) delivery.

The study identified major gaps in human resources, diagnostic readiness, infrastructure resilience, and service quality, particularly at lower-tier facilities. It also explored provider competency, patient satisfaction, and community perceptions to guide service delivery redesign (SDR). Recommendations focused on facility expansion, workforce redistribution, supply chain improvement, patient-centred care, referral strengthening, and digital health innovations (telemedicine).

This project contributes to national policy dialogue on high-quality, equitable, and climate-resilient PHC systems, supporting Bangladesh’s journey toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC).

USAID’s Urban Health Activity
December 2024 - January 2025 USAID Project

This study, under the USAID Urban Health Activity, aims to strengthen Bangladesh’s urban health system through evidence-based mapping and performance analysis. Using USAID’s Health System Assessment Approach (HSAA) and the WHO health systems framework, it evaluates service delivery, workforce, financing, governance, information systems, and medical technologies to identify systemic gaps and inequities.

I contributed to data collection tool development, literature review, and coordination of mixed-method analysis across seven health system building blocks.
